Anyone know anything about April’s scooters? This seems like a great price, but I have no idea about common problems I’d need to look out for. I’ve looked and can’t find any rhyme or reason as to what differentiates the ones I’ve seen being sold for $1300-3200 on a few classified ads.
Naturally, this all depends on the seller actually responding to me, not being a scammer, and it actually still being available.
I really wasn’t looking for something with a 500cc motor, but for this price it’s hard to not at least look. Plus, I like the color.

Wait, two teal vehicles both from Newport? Are we sure those aren’t the same seller?

Hey maybe we can set it up as a package deal and get a discount on them.

You want me to contact him and ask him to run a check on it with the service I use so we can be sure it’s on the up and up? Surely h e’ll understand we’ve been burned before and want to be careful.

Only if he’s willing to provide a vehicle history report through chariotoflovestotallyrealvincheckersite.iswearitsnotanattempttostealyoiridentity.net

That’s the old URL. Had it redirect to sketchy.net.

I joined the local moped gang. Cool guys. For the entry price of a $300 moped, a big cylinder, sprocket, and a phat pipe,
you too could blast around town at 60mph on a fifty year old bicycle.

It’s really convenient that all they need to enter is their SSN, mothers maiden name, and the name of their first childhood pet for the service. That’s much easier to remember than a random VIN.

The Ram I just bought came with the copy of a birth certificate and SS card of a 3rd independent party in the glove box for safe keeping.

I may look into that too.
With a scooter I want something with decent storage so I can actually commute to and from work and probably do a couple trips though.

I don’t think “safe keeping” means what he thinks it means.

I know of a guy who commutes in fair weather on a two stroke Stella. Such a charming little scooter.
There’s a guy in the group selling a Honda Hobbit I think. They fit bags pretty easily, though I wouldn’t want to actually commute on a moped.

I know it’s spelt Aprilia and not Apprillia or Aprillia.

My commute involves being on I-70, then route 4, and around the base. I can’t imagine doing that on a moped. Especially the part where I go uphill from a stoplight on a 50mph stretch of National Rd.
I tested taking all lower speed roads, but that turns my 20 minute commute into at least 35.
I still look at mopeds and may buy one for laughs, but a scooter 250cc or bigger will be more useful.

Yikes. Not a moped ride. All of my commute (when I don’t WFH) is 35 and under. Busiest section is on Patterson, and that’s avoidable. Or put it on the sidewalk.
There’s a guy in the moped group with one that he’s taken out on 75, so it’s capable of some speed...

If it’s legitimate I’m betting on it being a case of old man from Kentucky struggling with the combination of technology and a foreign sounding name.
In my case it’s a matter of somewhat old guy from Ohio failing to notice his phone autocorrected Aprilia to April.

Neat scooter! That’s a great price, if it’s legit and in good condition. The motor is a Piaggio, which is used in a few other scooters too.
Motorscooterguide.net is my go-to source for scooter information.

To be fair, I’m fairly certain the individual didn’t know their information was in the glove box.

“Safe keeping” is very deep sarcasm. I have a hunch the individual didn’t know their info was there. Of course I could be wrong. T he truck was stolen immediately prior to my ownership.

I’m sure that’s the case. I just can’t imagine selling a vehicle without checking everywhere to make sure I didn’t leave anything behind.

Still no word from the seller, but knowing it’s a Piaggio motor helps be a I’m at least somewhat familiar with stuff from them.
Thanks for the site information. I’ve visited there a couple times but just for basic reviews so far.

I got several photos and multiple walls of text. The XJ seems very legit. Thinking hard about visiting it.
But, I also really liked the Overland GC I checked out this evening. The luxury and cargo area are such a nice upgrade from my LJ.
SO HARD TO DECIDE.

But is the GC teal??
Seriously though it may be worth a visit just because sitting in them close together may help decide. A bit of luxury might be a nice contrast that helps you enjoy the openness of the LJ even more.

Black. I’m fairly confident there has never been a Grand Cherokee in a more exciting color than maroon.

There were at least a couple of pretty nice greens, and if you’re really feeling special maybe a purple.

It’s interesting to scan the list and see just how many different names they have for black.
http://gtcarlot.com/colors/Jeep/Grand+Cherokee/
Diamond Black Crystal Pearl
Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl
Blackberry Pearl
When you go back far enough in time, though, apparently Jeep used to call it simply “ Black”, which I suspect was indistinguishable from all of the above.

In my experience, when something well priced doesn’t sell quickly, it’s because the seller sucks at communicating. That thing should have sold in 24 hours, tops.
I imagine body parts might be a pain to get if you ever needed them, but the mechanical bits should be no problem.
